Rental Discounts

The American Legion, Post 354, of Midlothian, Va, is fortunate to have a valuable asset that can be used to contribute toward the mission of the American Legion and its Four Pillars. That asset, of course, is the ~5 acres of property and meeting hall, located along the bank of the scenic James River. That asset can either be rented for income or donated for use by other organizations who contribute to the mission.

Sometimes, when considering discounts, it can be challenging to gauge the level of contribution a rental event makes toward the mission. Therefore, it's important to understand the mission and the four pillars. Click the links below to learn more.

Discounts vary from 0% to 100%.

Privates events such as birthdays, weddings, etc. are not discounted. Income from these events are applied toward the cost of maintaining the facilities, as well as providing outreach to veterans and other organizations who support the mission.

Every year, Post 354 elects to sponsor individuals, groups or organizations from the local community whose objectives align closely with those of Post 354, and provide them with a 100% discount. Examples for 2022 include the following:

Other individuals, groups or organizations may ask to be considered for discount by providing a value statement that describes how an event contributes toward the mission of the American Legion and/or Post 354. Here's a quote from the mission statement to keep in mind when preparing a value statement.

"To enhance the well-being of America's veterans, their families, our military, and our communities by our devotion to mutual helpfulness."

Taken further, the "mutual helpfulness" component of that statement can be considered when there is an exchange of benefits. For example, JROTC teams often help Post 354 with Spring and Fall cleanup of the grounds. That's just one example and mutual helpfulness can take many forms.
